Miriam College believes that all human beings should be equally blessed to be responsible and to enjoy the fruits of knowledge-generation and social progress. It commits to a society where power and opportunity are equally shared. It believes in the saying “naked are clothed and the hungry are fed.”  The school rejects anykind of discrimination against any individual or group. Miriam College also adheres to gender equality and strive for and support a diverse and interdependent human community in which people’s rights, welfare and empowerment are centrally valued.

One of Miriam College's thrust is gender equality. The Women and Gender Institute (WAGI) of Miriam College aims to achieve women empowerment and gender equality in our society.  It advocates women’s rights and non-sexist learning in support of its students and leadership among young women.  It focuses on democracy, human rights, social justice and values formation as a way for women empowerment. WAGI which means ‘’win’’ in Filipino and “sister” in Ibanag fosters linkages with the various sectors, organizations and institution not only in the national level but in regional and internationals levels too.

Miriam College also has a program named "Kaisahang Ugnayan ng Mamamayan (KUM)".  It's a people’s organization where anyone can volunteer. It promotes the rights and welfare of the urban poor communities. It is composed of community volunteers from the five partner urban poor communities of Miriam College.
